One breeder, two bloodlines, no compromise.
Maison Belcanto began as a passion for the Standard Poodle, joined a few years later by the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. From Westmount, I breed these two breeds exclusively — never a cross, never a third breed to chase a trend.
The name "Belcanto" — bel canto, that Italian art of singing built on restraint and precision — describes what I look for in a dog as much as in a performer: grace is never improvised, it is built with discipline.
My dogs live in the house, not in an outdoor kennel run. Litters are born in a dedicated room steps from the kitchen and living room, right in the middle of everyday sounds and movement.
Two temperaments, one shared standard.
Standard Poodle
Known for exceptional intelligence and a low-shedding coat, the Standard Poodle suits families seeking a sharp, trainable, hypoallergenic companion. Our dogs range from black to apricot, always presented in a groomed continental clip for the show ring.
Cavalier King Charles
Gentle, affectionate and remarkably adaptable, the Cavalier King Charles is a companion breed above all — as at ease on a sofa as on a walk. Our bloodlines carry blenheim, tricolour and ruby coats, all from parents with certified eyes and hearts.
Nothing is left to chance.
Before any mating, both breeding dogs undergo a complete panel of tests: orthopedic evaluation of hips and elbows (OFA protocol), cardiac auscultation by a veterinary cardiologist, ophthalmologic certification, and a DNA panel covering the known genetic predispositions of their breed.
Every puppy leaves with a written two-year guarantee against serious hereditary conditions, plus a full copy of both parents' screening results — never a mere summary.
Socialization, from the very first days.
Weeks 1 to 3
Gentle daily handling, early neurological stimulation protocol, calm environment alongside the mother.
Weeks 4 to 6
Gradual exposure to textures, household sounds, stairs, then the first supervised meetings with selected visitors.
Weeks 7 to 8
Individual temperament assessment, crate-training introduced, final veterinary exam before leaving for the adopting family.
Visits are arranged by appointment.
We welcome serious families who wish to meet our dogs even before a litter has been conceived.
